The Art of Coffee Tasting: Virtuoso Coffee's 1st Public Community Workshop - Sold out in 24 hours
On Saturday Oct 5 (日本語 below) we hosted our first open-to-public community workshop, “The Art of Coffee Tasting”, in the heart of Harajuku. We originally thought it was going to be challenging to fill seats, but in reality - we sold out all 12 spots in 1 day.
This session was led by Gwen Nguyen, Co-Founder and Head of Roast at Virtuoso Coffee Japan, who is professionally trained in coffee sensorials by both the Espresso Academy in Florence, Italy and the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association).
The session explored a mix of lecture and interactive games - to help give beginners a stronger foundation of how to truly understand the taste of coffee. We explored coffee origins, the different processing methods and their effect on taste, how to identify taste notes and aromas, and how pros evaluate coffee beans with their senses — all in a fun, intimate space with like-minded people.

Due to high demand, we will be holding additional sessions of the same content (& new) in November and beyond.
We will also use this as a foundation to introduce our #2 community workshop session, The Art of Coffee Brewing.
