The Aricha Coffee Station
Aricha, located in the Gedeo Zone of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, is a renowned specialty coffee-growing area approximately 6 km east of Yirgacheffe town. Situated at elevations of 2,000–2,200 meters above sea level, this mountainous region benefits from a cool climate, fertile soil, and rich natural vegetation, creating ideal conditions for producing exceptional Arabica coffee.
Coffee is traditionally grown in semi-forest environments, shaded by indigenous trees such as acacia, African cordia, and fig. The region is known for its native Dega (Ethiopian Heirloom) variety, which develops slowly at high elevations, producing delicate floral aromas, vibrant fruit notes, bright acidity, and remarkable cup clarity. Both washed and natural processing methods are used to highlight the distinctive character of Aricha's coffee.
