[NEW] Kenya Tatu Estate [Natural]
From the highlands of Kiambu, Kenya, this coffee comes from Tatu Estate, a farm dedicated to preserving the country’s celebrated SL28 and SL34 varieties through careful cultivation and processing. While washed coffees are traditionally more common in Kenya, Tatu Estate takes a distinctive approach by producing this lot using the natural process, allowing the fruit character and sweetness to develop with remarkable depth and intensity.
Grown at 1,570 meters above sea level, the cup opens with the rich sweetness of raisin and dried fruits, followed by vibrant blood orange acidity that brings brightness and juiciness to the profile. As the coffee cools, a red wine-like fermentation character begins to emerge, adding depth, structure, and a refined complexity reminiscent of ripe dark berries and elegant wine tannins. The finish is smooth, syrupy, and lingering, with a deep sweetness that gently stays on the palate.

A Rare Processing Approach At Kenya
Tatu Estate is a respected coffee farm located in Kiambu, Kenya, a region known for producing some of the country’s most vibrant and complex coffees. The estate is dedicated to cultivating Kenya’s iconic SL28 and SL34 varieties, carefully managing every stage from farming to processing to preserve the character and quality these varieties are celebrated for.
What makes Tatu Estate especially distinctive is its approach to natural processing. While Kenya is traditionally known for washed coffees with bright acidity and clarity, Tatu Estate explores a different expression by producing naturally processed lots that emphasize deeper sweetness, fruit intensity, and wine-like complexity. This method allows the coffee cherry to dry slowly around the bean, developing layered flavors and a richer texture.
The result is a coffee that feels both unmistakably Kenyan yet uniquely expressive: vibrant, fruit-forward, elegant, and beautifully refined.
Coffee producing countries have impacted the world more than you might think.
We aim to bring more awareness, interest, and therefore value to them through art, culture, and craftsmanship.
